I love when I'm able to go home for a few days. Not that I don't mind having my family come to LA to visit but there's something about seeing the familiar trees, the snow and the familiar scent of the house. There are just some things you never forget. So as I returned to Boulder, Colorado for a few days in the new year, I couldn't have been happier. I sat with my mother and we talked about 2008. The ups and downs. The positives and negatives. How each of our lives have changed. But even more important we talked about 2009 and what we could possibly do to better our lives and the lives of those around us. So my resolutions for '09 have been set.
1. Give back even more than I did in 2008. Thought MTDN has been extremely positive this last year, there's always much more I can do. I wanna touch the lives of even more people this year. I want people's lives to be changed and problems to be at least slightly resolved in their lives. I'll give more, volunteer more and spend more time working to make a difference.
2. Spend more time with those I love. It's hard for me to be a family girl when my parents aren't in the same state as I am. So I spend my days with e-mails and phone calls to make up for it. Sadly, I can't change much of this as of late, but hopefully in the future I can! But then there's Colin. The one that I need to make even more time for because he's such a big part of my life right now. I've never been happier than I am right now and that tells me I need to up the ante and be a good girlfriend. He's my everything and I plan on letting him know that.
3. Live life. It's short. You think that it drags on and on but when you think back on it, the years flew by so quickly. I want to spend more time doing things for me and doing things that'll make me look back and not regret a single thing. So far, so good. But maybe a little skydiving or bungee jumping is in order.
They're simple and easy but things I can't help but want more than anything. I'll work on it. Starting with Colin. His sleeping form next to me in bed was everything perfect and amazing to me. His arms around my body and his stomach moving softly as he breathes. So I hope you don't blame me when I say I want to run back to that as soon as possible. I hope you all keep your resolutions and open your eyes to see exactly what you have in front of you. Don't regret anything if it passes you by. |
